Step 2 Group work
Discuss the questions with the partner.
What do you often do to help your partners at home?
Do you think kids should help out with chores at home?
Is doing chores easy or difficult?
Step 3 Listen ,read and find out the main ideas of the two passages.
The first passage:
Ms. Miller doesn’t understand why some parents make their kids help with housework and chores at home. She thinks it is the parents’ job to provide a clean and comfortable environment at home for their children.
The second passage:
Mr. Smith thinks it is important for children to learn how to do chores and help with housework. He thinks doing chores helps to develop children’s independence and teaches them how to look after themselves.
Step 4 practice: Find out whose opinions they belong to.
1.The earlier kids learn to be independence, the better it is for their parents.
2.There is no need for children to do housework when they are young.
3.Children should help parents with housework.
4.Doing chores is easy. So she doesn’t mind doing them.
5.Doing chores helps to teach children how to take care of themselves.
6.Children should spend too much time on their homework.
