IV. Teaching procedures.

Step 1. Greetings.

Greet the students as usual.

Step 2. Lead in.

Ask the students to look at the pictures on the screen and talk about them.

T: We know everyone has some problems in life. So do I. These days I’m not happy. Do you know what’s wrong with me? I had a fight with my daughter. And I’m becoming fat, though I exercise every day.

T: Most teenagers have some problems. What problems do they have? Let’s look at the screen. (Present new phrases). Read them aloud.

T: I want to know what your problems are. Can you tell me? (Ask some students to say out their problems.)

T: Oh, you have so many problems, which do you think are serious or not serious? (Ask some students to give their opinions.)

Step 3. Practice.

Part1a, ask one or two students to give their opinions, Tell them they can have different opinions.

Step 4. Listening practices.

Part 1b. Play the tape for the students to listen and finish the task. Check the answers.

Step 5. presentation

T: The most common problem is that you ----. What should you do? Why don’t you talk to your teachers? I told you just now. I got into a fight with my daughter. What should I do ? I’d like you to use “should/could” to give me some advice.

Ss: You should ----

You could--------

T: If we want to give others some advice, we can use “Why don’t you ----?, You should/could----.

Step 6. Listening practice.

T: Peter had a fight with his best friend, his another friend is giving him some advice. What is his friend’s advice?

Parts 2a, 2b. play the tape for the students to listen and finish the task. Check the answers.
