(3)Students are able to use different reading skills to find out others’ problems and feelings from letters, and understand the advice others give to them.
Processes and methods:
(1)Students are expected to find out Sad and Thirteen’s problems and feelings as well as their classmates’ problems and feelings by using different reading skills like skimming and scanning.
(2)Students are able to learn more new target language about how to write about problems and give advice by summarizing the letters from Sad and Thirteen and Mr. Hunt so that they can revise their letters and reply to their classmates to give advice.
(3)Students can work in pair or group to discuss the question and share their ideas so that they can get help from others to finish different activities and tasks.

在学习本课时之前,学生在前两课时已经学习了人际交往和学习问题的相关表达方式以及给建议的相关句型,有一定的知识基础,并且本课时通过两封信呈现一个学生的家庭问题以及Mr Hunt对该学生的问题提出针对性的建议,内容与学生生活息息相关,贴近学生实际,所以尽管文章含有个别生词,但学生在生活中有类似的经历和体会,这些生词对学生的阅读理解不会造成太大障碍。但这些新表达是对本单元所学话题内容的一个延伸,学生可以通过本课时的学习补充本单元话题的相关表达。
(2)心理技能
八年级学生八年级学生处于叛逆期,不愿意通过与家人或者老师沟通的方式来倾诉自己的问题。本课正好以一个学生通过书信的方式来倾诉自己的问题从而获得心理咨询师的建议,重在启发学生要懂得疏通自己的烦恼,可通过书信等渠道来获得帮助。
(3)学习需要
学生通过之前的学习已经能简单描述自己的问题并根据别人的问题提出简单的建议。但之前的学习以听说为主,而本课时以书面的形式将本单元所学话题内容更系统综合地整合在一起,学习如何以书面形式表达自己的烦恼,如何阅读他人的信件分析对方的问题从而回信给予具体合理的建议和安慰对方成为了学生的学习需要。
