一、教材内容分析:
The theme of Unit 4 is about interpersonal communication. Based on the accelerations of Grade 7 and the previous term they had, students are familiar with and interested in this topic. The lesson in this period is talking about opinions on school pressure. The purpose of this lesson is to extract useful information from the text to complete the exercises, and develop students’ basic skills of reading, speaking, and writing by helping them to express different opinions and feelings they had before. Meanwhile, I think moral education should also be carried out properly. The topics in this unit are closely related to students’ real life, which can lead students to communicate with each other bravely and confidently. After learning the lesson, students will first know the ways of comparing opinions. They will also know that it’s important to communicate with parents and others to solve problems.

Aims of knowledge: after this lesson, students will be able to:

Although it’s normal to want successful children, it’s even important to have happy children.

Aims of skills: after this lesson, students will be able to:
Read the passage and extract useful information, improve their comprehensive reading ability.
Use should, could and why don’t pattern to express their opinions of events.
Aims of emotions: after this lesson, students will be able to:
Be aware of the importance of the balance between study and relax.
Moral education:
We should have correct understandings of after-school classes, and communicate with parents to make good choices. Not everything can be smooth in our lifetime, we might have difficulties. If so, we should keep calm, and try our best to find a good way to solve them.
三、学习者特征分析
Students have a preliminary understanding of modal verbs through the study of last term and the basic structures to describe opinions and solutions through section A of unit 4. Students in grade 8 are special. They are active and they like to express themselves and hold the characteristics of strong curiosity. Meanwhile, they have grown up and gotten some accelerations of this language. So arranging pictures, questions and other activities which can easily and naturally arouse their interests is important. Once they become excited and curious, it could be easier to carry out other teaching activities.
