1.Let Ss listen and sing the song

2. Show some on the screen some grammar explanations for the new tense.

1. Students watch a flash about the Past Progressive Tense.

2. Students to read and learn the sentences on the screen.1. Get Ss to know some new Grammar meaning of this new tense.

2. Get the students to identify main clause from “when” subordinate clause.

Step 2 Revision

Teacher shows on the screen some activity pictures and revise s the Present Continuous Tense.

Students ask and answer in pairs,

A: What’s he/she doing?

B: He’s/She’s …ing.

Get the students to revise the Present Progressive Tense and get read for the new tense.Step 3 Presentation & talk

Show on the screen some pictures and learn the new verb tense.

1. Practice the conversations with the partners.

A: What was he/she doing?

B: He/She was …ing.

2. Change the pronouns and go on talking.

A: What were you doing when the rainstorm came?

B: I was …ing.

A: Where were you when…?

B: I was in/on/at the ….

Get the students to use the new tense in a proper way. Pay attention to the time in the sentence.

Step 4 Activity 1a

1. Get the students to read throu gh the picture s in Activity 1a and match.

2. Get them to read and recite the phrases.

Read and match the

statements with the right picture.

Read and recite the place phrases.

Have a pairwork.
