The past continuous tense
过去进行时表示过去某一时段或者某一时刻正在进行或发生的动作，场合表达过去的时间状语连用。
过去进行时的构成：
肯定形式：主语+was/were+doing
否定形式：主语+was/were+not+doing
疑问形式：was/were+主语+doing?
I was doing my homework at this time yesterday.
What were you doing at 7a.m. yesterday?
When adverbials and while adverbials
When表示当。从句中既可以用延续性动词，又可以用非延续性动词，常跟一般过去时。
When the UFO took off, the boy was taking photos.
Mary was having dinner when i saw her.
While表示在...的时候。While从句中的谓语必须是表示动作或状态的延续性动作，常跟过去进行时。
