Step 1 Revision and presentation
Greet the class as usual.
T: Today we are going to learn unit 5-what were you doing when the rain storm came? Tomorrow there will be a big event. Some of you will take part in it. What’s that?
Ss: Sports meet.
T: Hope you will have a great time. Now turn to page 37.
Read 1a and explain it to the students make a list which is about some events and the reasons, (show the table on the PPT) then answer the students to finish it.
Invite some students to show their work.
Teach the word- event
Step 2 1b
T: Look at the picture, Kate was calling someone up. What happened? Let’s read the questions in 1b, and then listen to the recording to answer them.
Tell them that their task is to answer the questions in 1b while they are listening to the tape. Play the tape again. Ask some students to answer the questions.
Step 3 1c Listening and Numbering
Call students’ attention to the box in 1c. Ask students to read the six sentences to the class and tell others the Chinese meanings. Then ask students guess the events in the order they happened.
Play the tape again. Ask the students to number the events. Check the answer.
Step 4 Practice
Play the recording again and ask the students to finish the exercise on the board.
