Ask the students this question:
What were you doing when I came in just now? Help them to answer with when/while, and revise the past progressive tense.

Show the picture of Wenchuan Earthquake monument, and ask these questions:
What’s on the screen?
What’s on the stones?
What happened?
To get the students interested in the teaching activity. Tell my experiences to the students in order to set an example for the students about events.
Step 3.Skimming
Ask the students to skim the passage on Page 38,and answer this question: How many events are mentioned in the passage? Then check the answer.

Read the first two paragraphs and fill in the chart.
Read the last two paragraphs and fill in the chart.
Check the answers.
