Step 1: Duty report
One student does a duty report then the other students ask and answer questions about the duty report.
Step 2: Lead-in. Before -writing
Watch a video about Aron Rolston
Then ask and answer questions about the video .List their answers on the screen.
Tell the Ss: This is an important event to Aron Rolston. Do you know how to write about an important event? Then show a sample composition to the Ss and help them to know how to write about an event. Connect the Ss’s answers into a passage and ask the Ss to read together. After reading tell the Ss when we write about an event we had better write three paragraphs. In the first paragraph we can write about what, who, when and where. In the second paragraph we can write about how the event goes on. In the third paragraph we can write about why this event is important.)
Step 3 : Presentation. While writing
1、A free talk
Ask the Ss to fill in the blanks by asking their partners the following questions.
What’s your unforgettable event?
When did it happen?
What were you doing at that time?

Ss make a report according to their forms.
2、 P39-3a Ss make a note about an event they remember well.
What was the event?
When did it happen?
Where did it happen?
What were you doing at that time?
What were your friends doing?
Why was it important?
Why do you remember this event?
Help the Ss to fill in the blanks and find the things they can write about.
3、P40-3b Ss write a short article about the important event in 3a.
Tell the Ss how to write a short article about the important event . Tell them to write three paragraphs.
First, write about the event(when and where it happened).
Next, write about what you and some of your friends were doing when this event happened.
Then, write about why this event was important.
