五.Teaching Procedures

Step I Warm-up

1. show a picture that has Sun Wukong and another three main characters on the screen,

Talk about the picture with the students : Do you know who they are? What’s the name of the story? Which of the four people do you like best? what do you know about Sun Wukong?

2.Lead the students to watch the pictures with a story about Sun Wukong. And ask them to try to feel and understand the meaning of important words and phrases while reading the story about Sun Wukong :magic stick ; make 72changes to his shape and size ; turn….into….; object

Step2 Before reading

Ask students to turn to Page43 ,look at the picture on Page43. Ask them to guess: what is this passage about ?what book is talked about? Who is the main character in the passage?

1.ask students to read the passage and try to find the answers to the questions:

1).Which book is talked about?

2).Who is the main character?

3).What is he like?

4).Why does the Monkey King use a magic stick?

5).Can he turn into a person if he can't hide his tail?

6).Why Western children become interested in the story?

Careful reading

1.Read the passage again then ask them to complete the chart about the Monkey King
