Step 1 Lead in
T: Do you like reading books? Ss: Yes. I do.
T: Have you read Little Women? S1: Yes, I have. / No, I haven’t.
Step 2 presentation (1a)
1. T: I like reading books. Here are some books that I have read. Teach the names of books.
Alice in Wonderland Treasure Island Robinson Crusoe
Little Women Oliver Twist Tom Sawyer
2. Ss read and learn.
3. Let Ss check the ones they know in 1a , then make conversations like:
A: Have you read …? B: Yes, I have. A: What’s it like? B: It’s interesting/ exciting /….
Step 3 Listening (1b)
1. Let Ss read the chart first. Then play the tape for the Ss to listen and write down the three book.
2. Play the tape again and check if they have read the books and what they think of them.
3. Check the answers. Ask Ss to read their answers in this way:
Nick hasn’t read Treasure land, but Judy has read it. She thinks it’s ….
Step 3 Practice (1c)
1. Ss read the sample conversation first, then talk about the other books in 1a in pairs.
2. Ask some pairs to practice their conversations.
Step 4 Pairwork
1. Let a pair of Ss to read the conversation in 2c to the class.
2. Ask Ss to talk about the books according to the information in 2a and 2b. Step 6 Sum up Let Ss sum up what they have learned this class. Step 7 Homework 1. Write down the new words. 2. Read more books and talk about them.
