Pre-listening: Let ss see the picture from 1b first. Then give 2 questions before listening to the tape: 1. What kind of music are they playing? 2. Are they a new band?

Listening: Play the tape once for ss to finish tasks in 1b. Then check answers. The second time, give ss some seconds to read 1c then play the tape. And I’ll play it again to check the answers in 1c. The fourth time, ss will close the books and read after the tape sentence by sentence. Meanwhile, ss will have some difficulties, then I’ll pick them before and display them to make it more impressive for ss.After all these, the whole class will turn to the tape scripts and read loudly together.

Step 3: Consolidation and promotion

Adaption of 1d, leave “parents” section for homework. In class, ss will work in groups of four to find out what kind of music is popular. Each ss will ask each other “What kind of music do you like? Why do you like it? How does it make you feel?” and they will use the structures I give to help. Every group will choose one reporter to write down the answers and also put it into paragraphs as how I give them the examples.

Homework:

Ss will work on a new class song in groups of 4 after class. They will think of the lyrics. They can choose the ballad they like on the internet. Then rebuild it into a new class song. Other instructions are on the paper. I’ll sing as an example.
