Country is a traditional kind of music from the southern states of America.

Teaching steps:

Step1:Before Reading(Warming up)

Let the students listen to Michael Jackson’s song” Heal The World” and tell them , I like his song because his song is full of love, and it expresses beauty(new word)…etc.

In this way, to present new words and lead in the topic: music.

Ask them: Who is your favorite singer? What is your favorite song?

Ss give their answers.

Tell them, these music is about modern (new word) life, about money and success (new word). Today we will learn about another kind of music.

Step 2: While Reading:

Listen to a piece of music and let them guess: What music is it?

Introduce them to guess from the title. So they can learn the first strategy: The title is very important for reading.

2. Skimming:

Skim every paragraph and match the main idea with the paragraphs. They can use the second strategy: Topic sentence is usually the first/last sentence.

3.Careful Reading:

Read each paragraph carefully and finish the tasks.

Try to answer some questions .

4. Retelling:(Summary)

Retell the passage by using their own words. They can learn the third strategy Summarizing can help them better understand the text.

5.Report your own summary to the class.

Step3: After Reading

1. Let them learn to talk about their favorite singers by using a mind map. They can learn the fourth strategy: Mind map can help us consolidate our reading.

Step 4. Summarize the main contents of this lesson.

Step 5 Homework:

1. Write a short passage about your favorite singer, then show to the class.

2 .Remember to enjoy music. Be sure to love life.
