Read the first or last sentence in each paragraph to get the main idea.

While reading, make notes or underline the information sentences in the text.

After reading, try to write a short summary in your own words.

Step 1 leading in.

1. Do you have a favorite singer or a favorite song?

2. How do you feel when you listen to her or his music or songs?

Step 2 warming up.

Share with students several singers and songs which are very popular with them. After watching, ask them two questions: who’s the singer? Do you know the name of the song?

Step 3 Words review.

Before reading, do a quick quiz about words and phrases.

Step 4 Skimming.

Ask students to skim the passage quickly for the main idea of each paragraph.

Step 5 Scanning.

Ask students to scan the passage for details and finish the task in p63.
