Step 1: Learn the new words.

T shows some pictures and helps Ss learn the new words.

1.T shows a scarf and a toy bear and leads Ss to make the sentences like this:

-How long have I had the scarf?

-I’ve had it for 6 years/since 6 years ago/since 2011/since I went to college.

-How long has she had the toy bear?

-She has had it for 17 yeas/since 17 years ago/since 2000/since she was 2 years old.

T leads Ss to find the difference and rules of “for” and “since”

Step 3: Listening

Have a brainstorming.

T asks a question:How to deal with our old things?

T guides Ss in finding the ways of dealing with the old things.

Watch a video about yard sale and learn about the yard sale.

Finish 1b. Listen and check the facts,then check the answer.

Step 4: Pair work

T shows some pictures and makes Ss choose one thing to make a conversation.

Step 5: Pair work

Finish 2a. Listen and check the things Amy’s family are giving away and circle the things they are keeping.

Finish 2b. Listen again and fill in the blanks.

Listen again and choose the correct answer.

Step 6: Group work

T guides Ss in doing a research and making a report according to the chart.
