Step1. Lead-in
Show some pictures, and ask students some simple questions:
What can you see in the picture?
Can you guess where they live and where they are going to?
Then discuss the three questions in 2a.
Step2. Reading
Fast-reading
Ask students to read the passage quickly and silently. Try to find the answers to the three questions in the passage.
Then check their answers.
Later introduce a reading tip: Using previous knowledge.
Careful-reading
Task 1. Students read the passage carefully and try to find out the main idea of each paragraph.
Para.1 The facts about Zhong Wei
Para.2&3 Great changes in the hometown
Para.4 Sweet memories
Task 2. Ask a student to read Para.1, and other students answer questions.
How old is Zhong Wei?
Where is he working now?
How long has he been there?
How often does he return home?
Task 3. Ask a student to read Para.2&3. Find out the great changes that have happened in hometowns.
Changes: large hospitals, new roads, new schools,teachers from cities
According to Zhong Wei, what will be the biggest change in his hometown?
Task 4. Students read Para.4 together, then fill in the blanks.
