I. Lead-in. ?
给学生一些关键词,如:an American writer, humorous,
some of his works:
The Million Pound Note, Running for Governor ,The Adventure of Tom Sawyer等让学生猜测:Who do you think he is?
2. 学生猜出“Mark Twain”后,再介绍:Look,Mark Twain’s name appeared in the newspaper. 然后问学生:What’s the name of the newspaper? What country does it belong to?
II.?Presentation
1. 让学生看报纸上的大标题,然后回答两个pre-reading问题:
①What happened to ascot cup ?
②Who do you think stole it when you see the headings?
2. 让学生速读全文,了解文章主旨。
What does the passage mainly want to tell us?
A. How the Ascot cup was stolen.
B. What Mark Twain did in England.
C. How clever and humorous Mark Twain was.
D. How people in England welcomed Mark Twain’s arrival
