Step 1 Greetings

Step 2 Lead-in

Watch a video (感谢平凡的自己) and try to remember something that give you a deep impression.

The students will tell us what they remember from the video.

The teacher will lead the students to think about those common people who also has happy time.

Step 3 Show some pictures

Show some ordinary/common people who are not rich, not famous and don’t have much power to them. But we can also see happy smile on their faces.

The last picture is about Obama and he has a big smile. Let the students think about that why he is so happy. One possible reason will be given. That is he has a rich and beautiful country. But in today’s story, there is also a king who has a rich and beautiful country. Why he is always unhappy? What makes him unhappy? How to help him?

Step 4 Independent reading-----By doing six tasks in groups

The teacher prepared 6 tasks for them to understand the story by themselves because the passage is not difficult for them to read and they are able to solve the problems since they are in grade 3.

There are six tasks just for their six groups. Each group choose one task and then report. During the task, they should follow the requirements:

Read and discuss loudly.

Learn to cooperate with group members.

Report your task together.

Each group will have one judge to evaluate which group do the best.

Task 2. 我给故事排序 –I can sequence events in the story.In order to find the shirt of a happy man…
