Step1 Lead-in

(创设情境,切入主题)

A guessing game

Show the picture of a man doing something,cover half of the picture, and then ask students to guess what the man might be doing. Guide them to guess with modal verbs.------must could may can’t

Show another picture.Let students guess why do you think these people are running with modal verbs.

(设计意图:展示图片,让学生猜测图中人物正在进行的动作,能迅速激发学生的兴趣,同时又能练习本课重要句型,真正做到了在玩中学。)

Step2 Presentation

(展开过程,探求新知)

Show the pictures about a UFO and an alien, talk about them with students.

Show the pictures in 1a and let students describe them and then finish 1a.

(设计意图:学会使用基本语言,为下面的学习打基础。)

Step3 Listening to 1b and 1c

Before listening

Have a discussion: Ask students to predict the order of the three pictures.

T: If these three pictures were from the same story,which one do you think might be first?

Understand the meaning of the words and phrases from the listening text.

While listening

Listen for the first time and check if their prediction are right.

Listen again. Ask the students to discuss the ending of the story,and share their stories with the class.

Listen for the third time, and finish 1c. Complete the sentences.

After listening

Understand the meaning of the listening text.

Step4 Role-play

Ask several pairs of students to read the listening text, and role –play the conversation between the man and the woman.
