Step 1: Lead-in
Use the things in the lost and found case to let Ss find the owner of them.
(To arouse Ss’ interest by guessing the owner of the things and teach them to keep things well.)
Step 2: Revision
Summarize the modal verbs we just used, such as can’t/may/might/could/must.
(To review the modal verbs that we have learnt in SectionA .)
Step 3: Guessing game
Ask Ss to look at some pictures and guess what they are doing.
(To motivate Ss’ learning interest and introduce the new structure.)
Step4: Work on 1a
Ask Ss to look at the pictures and use the words in the box to write sentences by themselves, then some Ss show their sentences.
(To help Ss use the target language in a different context.)
Step 5: Discussion
If the pictures come from the same story, what’s the order of them? Discuss with your partner and show your opinion.
(To improve the speaking skills.)
Step 6: Work on 1b
1. Play the recording and number the pictures [1-3].
2. Let Ss try to write more sentences to finish the story.
e.g. A woman is filming with a camera. They are making a movie.
(To improve Ss’ listening skills.)
Step7: Discussion
If we have a chance to continue the story, what will happen next? Discuss with your partner.
(To open Ss’ mind and improve their oral English.)
Step8:Work on 1c
1. Tell Ss to read the sentences in 1c.
2. Play the recording for the Ss. Ss just listen for the first time. Play the recording again and check the sentences Ss hear.

Step9: Work on 1d
Role-play the conversation between the man and the woman.
(To give Ss practice in using the target language in conversation.)
