Step 1 Revision

Give the students some pictures, then let them talk about:

How do you study English?

Step 2 Reading 3a

读前准备：读图和标题，了解故事情景，进行讨论

First, look at the picture and the title.

Then, answer:

·What do you think the text is about when you read this title?

·What’s the woman doing in the picture?

·How do you think the woman is learning English according to

·How does watching English movies help us learn English?

答案：1．About learning English.

2．She is watching TV.

3．She learns English by watching English programs.

4．W e can learn how to speak English.

(学生闭合课文，引导学生就标题和插图展开讨论，在讨论中教师可有意诱导、呈现课文中的部分学生生疏的词汇(如character, expression, grammar, discover等)，让学生明确词义。

读中理解：理解文章主体大意，回答问题。

Please open your books and read the 3 questions. 确认大家正确理解问题的意思，必要时教师可运用母语适当解释，如the secret to learning English。

Then read the passage and answer the 3 questions. You can discuss your answers with your classmates.

(期间教师巡视，可结合课堂实际指导或鼓励学生在形成自己理解判断的前提下与周边同学讨论协商，修正、完善自己的作答。
