Teaching steps:

Step1: Review

Organize the students to review the text learnt the day before.The students interact with the teacher.Students work in groups talking about what they often do on Mother’s Day.

Group report:The students exchange their opinions about the activities on Mother’s Day.Then one of each group reports in class.

Step2: Free talk

T:We have so many festivals.Now let’s talk about Chinese festivals.

Help the students list the names of Chinese festivals. Share the result in class.

Do the same with foreign festivals. Help the students list the names of foreign festivals. Share the result in class.Lead in Halloween.

Step3: Presentation

Group work:Students discuss how much they know about Halloween.

The teacher helps with some useful information.

The students join in the class activities actively.When the students have trouble expressing these interesting things ,the teacher tries to help them to solve the problem.(Show them some typical pictures of Halloween.)

3、Student book:1a:The students look at the pictures in 1a and discuss in groups talking about the words in the box connected with Halloween.Report in class.The teacher helps them to make their talk perfect.

Step4: Listening

1b:The students go through the information in this part first,then they listen twice to find out the answers to these questions .Then they ask and answer in groups.

1c:The students listen again to complete the chart in 1c.They should make sure they have gone through the information in the chart and already understand it.

Share the result in class.Two of the students come to the blackboard to write down their answers on the blackboard .Check it together with the help of the screen of the computer.

The students read the 4 parts after they check it.

Step4: Retelling

The students retell the listening part in pairs,then check some of them together in class. Correct the mistakes.

Step5: Homework

1)Search more information about Halloween and other foreign festivals.

2)Write the report they make in class down in the exercise books after class.
