Step 1 Preparation
Before the lesson, ask several students to bring their old photos to me.The photos will appear in the leading part, so this part is a preparation for the new lesson.
Step 2 Leading in
Task 1 is a guessing game .
The teacher show the Ss’photos on the PPT and let the students guess who they are. Task 2 , The teacher guide the Ss to describe the photos using the old words and brainstorm the words describing one’s appearance and personality.
Step 3 Presenting
Present the target language through three activities.
First, The teacher present her old photo and lead them to describe the changes. They are expected to say like this : Your hair is long now. Your hair was short in the past. Then the teacher present the new sentence pattern : my hair used to be short.
Activity 2, invite the owners of the photos to the front and let the students compare them between the past and now and make their own sentences using used to.
Activity 3 , lead in the topic: people sure change including our parents.
Then play a video ,Thus, It can provide situation for the new presentation.
After that , printscreen two pairs of the pictures about the changes of the parents. With the help of the pictures, present different sentence types with used to .
