Teaching key and difficult points:

know and grasp some important reading skills, such as skimming,scanning and inferring;

understand the whole passage and some detailed information;

help and care for the stay-at-home children and understand their parents and love them.

Teaching procedures：

Step1. Greetings

The teacher greets the ss as usual.

Step2. Leading-in

The teacher asks the ss to watch a video and asks ss to answer ‘What shall we learn about today?’

Step3.Reading

Before reading

The teacher asks ss to think about the two questions ‘Do you know “stay-at-home children” ? How do you think about them?’ Then the teacher says ‘Let’s read Li Wen’s story.’

While reading

Present the whole passage and tell the ss there are two parts that are covered.

Ask ss to find the main idea of each paragraph by doing a match.

Careful reading

Read the first paragraph, then finish the exercises. “T” for true, “F” for false.

Read the second paragraph and and choose the right answers.

Read the second paragraph and find the words that have the same meanings with the purple words to complete the sentences . Change their forms if necessary.

Read the third paragraph and make up a conversation between Li Wen.and his parents.

Ask the ss to guess ‘ After Li Wen’s parents talked with their son , what will happen next?’ Can you infer how Li Wen will change after the talk? Then ask the ss to fill in the blanks.

After reading

Ask the ss to choose the best title after reading and understanding the whole passage.
