Step Ⅰ:Warm-up(2minutes)

给学生展示灯泡的图片,并提问What’s this? It’s…. Who invented it? It was invented by….通过问题引出新课题。 Today, we will know about a few inventions and talk about the history of them.

Step Ⅱ:Lead in: (2 minutes)

提问学生,学生根据已有的知识回答,然后给学生展示现代发明的图片。

Step Ⅲ: 1a(5minutes)

让学生思考一下近代有哪些发明,之后通过展示图片引出1a,After that, ask the students the questions below:

Questions:

1. Which one do you think is the oldest?

2. Which one is the newest?

Ask different students to answer the questions.

A: I think the telephone was invented before the car.

B:Well, I think the telephone was invented after the car.

Step Ⅳ:1b Listening practice(5minutes)

Play the tape and ask students to listen to the tape carefully.

Play the recording a second time. Let the students match the inventions and the dates. Check the answers by asking several students to say the answers to the class.

This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language.

Get the students to practice in pairs, using the information in the chart.

A: When was …invented?

B: It was invented in ….

A: Who was it invented by?
