Step I Leading- in

In the last few lessons,we’ve learned some great inventions. Such as computer, TV, car, camera and so on. Today we’ll know another great invention, it is called basketball.Ask the students to talk about the basketball .

1 . Do you like basketball ?

How much do you know about basketball?

Can you recognize these famous basketball players?

Step II Skimming

Look though the passage quickly within one minute, try to match the main idea of each paragraph .

Para 1 : The history of the basketball.

Para 2 : The background (Who invented it and how was it invented?)

Para 3 : The popularity.

Step III Task-reading

Read the passage carefully to finish the tasks one by one.

1.Task1 Read Para 1,complete the mind map.

2.Task2 Read Para 2 and fill in the form, then state rules of basketball according to clues.

3.Task3 Listen to Para 3 and find the answers to the questions.

4.Task4 Scan para 3 , and complete the mind map.

5.Task5 Translate the following sentences into Chinese.
