Step1: Lead-in:
播放一段NBA视频,导入新课。
After watching the game ,ask the students: Do you like basketball?
Who is your favorite basketball player? Is basketball very popular in China?
What other sports are played in China? Can you list them?
Present some pictures of different sports and rank them from the most popular to the least popular.
Step2: Before You Read:
Present the picture about the equipment of the basketball, teach the students to learn these new and key words:
basketball, court, net, metal hoop, backboard, hard wooden floor
Ask the students to read the passage with the following questions.
Present the three questions :
1) What’s the passage about?
2) How old was the sport of basketball?
3) By whom was this sport invented?
