Step1. Revision
Ask students some family rules:
T: Can you watch TV on school nights ?
S: Yes, I can .
T: That means you are allowed to watch TV.
Present: “be (not) allowed to do sth” on the blackboard
Present more sentences.
T: Can you play with mobile phones while you are doing your homework?
S: Yes, I can.?
T: That means you are allowed to play with mobile phones
T: Do your parents allow you to hang out with friends on weekends?
S: No, they don’t.
T: That means you’ re not allowed to hang out with friends on weekends.
Show some school rules beginning with “Don’t” with pictures, then change them into sentences using passive voice ”be allowed to do “.
