Step1: Lead-in
1.Warming up
Ask students to act out the story in Section A.
2.Discussion
Ask students to discuss in groups what can make a person happy.
设计意图: 通过表演故事的方式唤起学生对已知知识的记忆启动听力前的背景图式。通过师生交流,谈论什么能够使得人幸福。此处的复习重点强调前一节课的主要词汇power,wealth.fame及语言结构make+sb.+adj. 为新课学习做好语言和认知的铺垫。
Step2: Presentation
Ask students to discuss what the ending of the story is.
Work on 1a.Look at the possible endings to the story about the unhappy king.Do you think any of these is the right one?If so ,which one?
a.The general cannot find a happy person and the king remains unhappy forever.
b. The general finds a happy person with power, money and fame.
c. The general realizes he is a happy person and gives his shirt to the king to wear.
d. The king suddenly becomes happy without the shirt of a happy person.
设计意图:通过选择结局,形成学生自己的故事发展预测为获取准确的听力信息做好准备;同时产生对获取听力信息的期待。
Step 3 Listening
Ask students to listen for the first time and check the things that happened in the rest of the story.
