To prompt Ss to think about possible endings to a story they have read.
Group work Have Ss work in groups to choose the ending that the think is the right one. Ask each group in turn to tell the class its choice and give reasons for the choice.

What’s the moral of the story?
The story is a fable, it has a moral. In other words, it tries to teach a lesson about life. Prompt Ss to think about possible lessons that the story may want to teach before they think of potential story endings.

A poor man is a happy man, as a poor man may not be happy as he has to worry about his basic day-to-day needs.
Another moral is that money, power and fame cannot give happiness.
