Step1 Warm up(3 minutes)

1.Watch a video about Roberto Baggio, the melancholy prince.

Introduce Baggio to students as follows.

He missed the most important goal.

His fault let his teammates down.

His fans asked him not to be hard on himself.

They believe if they pull together, they would win next time.

2. Put up the word cards on the board and ask students to guess what they mean.

Justification: This part has a close relationship with the topic, so it can lead in the topic and arouse students' interests.

Step2 Pre-reading(1 minute)

The teacher shows a picture and the title of the passage and ask students to have a predicting:Did Peter's team win?

Justification: To arouse students' curiosity.

Step3 While-reading(14 minutes)

Activity1. Scanning

The teacher asks students to have a scanning of the passage and answer these questions:

Did they win the soccer game?

How did Peter feel at first and at last?

Activity2. Skimming

The teacher asks students to have a skimming of the passage and divide the passage into 3 parts.

Justification: Let students to have a general understanding of the passage.

Activity3. Listening
