Independent and Cooperative Learning Method. Reading Method.

Learners:
The ninth graders has leamt English for over two years. So they can do well in reading, speaking and sharing with others to some extent. They know most the rules of my English class and do well in co-operating Teaching tools: E-book, CAI, color chalk.
Teaching procedures:
Step1 Preparation
1. Enjoy an English song called You’re not alone.
2. Then ask some questions according to the pictures on the screen.
Step2 Presentation
Firstly, Have a free talk: A mistake that you have made and your feeling then.
Then say: please keep your eyes on the screen. (Teach the sentence). We all made mistakes and we might feel like there is a heary weight on our shoulders. Lead in to the new words.
Thirdly, teach the new words.
Fourthly, The teacher will tell a story about her son, and lead the students in to the new article.
Fifthly, Let students read the phrases on the screen quickly.
Sixthly, the teacher reminds students that to skim a story is run your eyes through it quickly to get an idea of what it is about. After that, let students predict the order in 2b.
Seventhly: Let students listen to the tape and underline some key phrases and idioms. Then read carefully the 1st pragraph to answer 2 questions on the screen. In the same way, read carefully the 2nd one and the 3rd one and finish the tasks on the screen.
( Students can finish the tasks in groups)
Step3 Practice
Let students discuss the key sentences on the screen in groups and then check them. After that, to extend students’ vocabulary range by focusing on some idiomatic phrases used in the story. Discuss in pairs to finish the tasks in 2d.
Step4 Production
To give students practice in using the target language in conversations.
The teacher can ask students to work in pairs to role-play the conversation.
Retell the story about Peter
Of course there is a competition between groups in this step. To see who is the best.
Step5 Progress
To test the students in class.
Give them 5 exercises to do in class.
Let students have a summary in class.
At last, give students some homework after class.
