Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warm up
Greetings.
Review what we learned last class. Talk about different kinds of pollution with students. Ask students to ask and answer the following questions:
What kind of pollution did we talk about last class?
What do you think causes the pollution?
What should we do to cut down the pollution?
Step 2 Presentation
Play the guessing game.
how some pictures to students. Ask students to guess what we should do to help save the earth according to the picture.
Show the items on the screen. Ask students to rank these items from the easiest (1) to the most difficult (5).
Then get students to work in pairs to compare their answers. After that, invite a student to read the sample conversation to the class.
Step 3 Practice
Teach activities 1c&1d.
Call students’ attention to the chart and rad the instruction to the class.
Invite a student to read the list of items that Julia and Jack talk about. Then play the tape, the first time, students only listen, the second time, students check the things they hear.
Play the same tape again, this time students listen carefully and check the things according to the instruction in 1d.
Step 4 Consolidation
Teach activity 1e.
Tell students to talk about the things they do now, they will do in the future, and they will never do. And then work in pairs to make the new conversations using the information in the chart above.
After students finish this activity, have one or two pairs of students act them out.
Give students more exercises to do.
