Teaching process:

Step I. Lead in

1. Show some pictures that the earth has been polluted to the students, and ask them what they should do to save the earth. Their answers may be:

Turn off the lights when we leave a room.

Take our own bags when shopping.

Ride a bike

Put things we don’t use anymore to good use.

Don’t use paper napkins.

Recycle paper.

T: Great, you are clever! These ideas which you came up with are very useful. Today we will know some people who have creative minds to protect the environment. But Let’s learn the new words and phrases first.

Step II . While-reading activities

Learn the new words and phrases:

gate bottle president inspiration iron work metal creativity

thow away put sth. To good use pull…down upside down bring back

Ask the students to look at the title and the pictures in 2b.And guess what the passage is about? (Reuse, recycle things to protect the environment)

Get the students to read the passage and complete the chart in 2b individually. And then check their work with some students.
