Step 1 Warm up

Greet the class. Do some exercise.

Step 2 Skimming

Pay attention to the passage in 3a, ask students to guess what type the passage is .Ss, “It’s a poem.”

Then ask students to read the poem quickly and answer the questions.

What is the main subject of this writing?

Who do you think the writer is?

Work in groups and later ask them to answer together.

Step 3 Detailed reading

Play the tape to students, ask them listen carefully and think about the question, Discuss the question with the groups.

Q: What activities can the writer remember about his/her life in junior high school?

Choose one student of the group to answer about each paragraph.

Check the answer with the other students.

Step 4 3b

Play the tape to students again, ask students to listen and pay attention to the words in the chart. Tell them what’s the meaning of “rhyme”.

Write the words that rhyme with them.

Step 5 Discussion

Ask students to read the poem by themselves and think about the activities.

Talk about the feeling of the activities in 3c.

Work in groups.

Step 6 Consolidation
