Quick greetings
Present the learning aim
T: Today we’ll talk about how to write a thank-you letter to mom. (Show the PPT to students).
Guessing game
T: At first, I’d like to show you some photos, and play a guessing game.
Can you guess how old the baby is? And what’s the relationship between the baby and the lady?
Pictures to lead in
T: Have you ever thought about what your mom did for you? Here’re some pictures about it. Let’s say the phrases together.
Brainstorming: free talk
T: And what else did mom do for you?
S1: Give me food…
S2: Tell me stories…
T: There’re many things that mom did for you. Please look at the phrases and fill in the blanks together.
T: You all do good jobs. Thank you!
6. Game: Speak out the English translation.
T: Let’s play a game now. When the arrow stops, please speak out the English translation. See who is the first!
7. Make sentences.
(1) T: Well, mom did many things for you. But do you know when mom did these for you? We may use the clause “ When I …, you … .” to make sentences.
T: Is that clear? Yes, do you want to have a try? Please put up your hands.
(2) T: Mom did a lot of things for me. She gave birth to me. When I was hungry, she gave me food. When I was ill, she took care of me and stayed by my side. I really want to say thank-you to my mom.
T: Here’s a video. There are many persons in the video. Pay attention to the persons and the words they said. After watching it, we have to match the persons and the words they said.

T: Watch a video. I’ll share you a story about Jenny and her mother. And then talk about an event that impressed you most.

Present the task of writing
Ask the students to write the compositions on their sheets.
T: Now written work. Write a thank-you letter to mom according to the mind-map. The composition includes three points. And eighty words is enough.
