Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming up
1.Greeting as usual.
2.T: Hello, everyone. How are you?
Ss: I’m fine. How are you?
T:I'm happy today. Do you know "why"?
T:Yeah, it's a festival—Women's Day! And my favorite festival is coming. What is it?
Ss:...
T: It's April Fool's Day. What do you know about it?
Ss: ...(talk about the name, date, activates....)
T: life is full of the unexpected.
Step 2 Leading in
Free Talk: Have you ever fooled others? Have you ever been fooled by others? Please show your story with us.
(Invite two students to tell their unexpected stories.)
Step 3 Pre-listening
1.Write down some nouns, verbs and adjectives from students' stories on the blackboard.
2.Help students know "Nouns are probably about people, places, and things. Verbs are about action words. Description words are probably adjectives".
3. Ask the students to finish the task in 1a.
①Read the instruction and the words together.
②Students do it by themselves.
③Check answers in groups.
④Check answers together.
4.Work on 1b:Tell an unexpected thing that happened to me recently and make students interested in it.
Step 4 While listening
1.Work on 1c:
①Look at the four pictures carefully, and ask students to make up a story.(What can you see? Can you guess how the person feels in the picture? Try to make up a story using at least two words in 1a. )
②Listen to 1c for the first time.
③Listen to 1c again if necessary.
④Check the answers.
