Step I Revision

Revise the form of Past Perfect Tense: had + done

(do some exercises about the tense, write the past tense and the past participle tense of the three verbs.)

Step Ⅱ Learn some new words

fool costume embarrassed costume party (teach the students to read them)

Step Ⅲ 1a

Read the instructions to the students. Point to the chart with the three headings Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives．Ask the students to read the words in the box. Then give the students several minutes to finish this part with their group members.

Ask three students to read the answers to the class after their discussion, then point out the four special words, then give the students some sentences about the four words, ask them to read by themselves and help them to understand the meaning of the words.

Step Ⅳ 1b

First read the instructions to the class．Then give them a passage about Bob, ask the students to fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words in 1a.After a few minutes, ask five students to read the sentences one by one, including their answers.

Step Ⅴ An introduction about April Fool’s Day and the most famous joke on April Fool’s Day (ask the students to read by themselves)

Step Ⅵ 1c

Call the students’ attention to the four pictures． Ask the students to describe the four pictures with their own words．

Read the instructions to the class．

Play the tape and ask the students to write each boy’s name in the correct box． Check the answers by asking different students to tell their own answers．

Step Ⅶ 1d

Read the instructions to the class．( There are six phrases in the box． Your task is to find out who says each of the phrases, Dave, Nick or Joe after listening to the same recording． And write "D" for Dave, "N" for Nick and "J" for Joes on the short lines before the phrases． Look at the first one． The answer has been given as a sample．)

Play the recording the first time． The students listen and write． Then play the recording again． Ask the students to check the answers． Ask six different students to report their answers to the class． Check the answers with the class．
