Step 1 Lead in

1. Play a flash about April Fool’s Day to arouse students’ interest in learning English.

T: What festival is this?

Ss: April Fool’s Day.

T shows the title of Unit12 Life is full of the unexpected. Section B（1a-1e）. OK. Now Class begins. Please open your books. We’ll study the new lesson Unit12 Life is full of unexpected Section B (1a-1e).

Step 2 Warm up ppt (4-7)

T: Do you want to know more about April Fool’s Day? T shows students ppt (4-7)

April Fool’s Day is also called All Fools Day. April Fool’s Day is on April 1st. On this day, people play jokes/hoaxes on each other in western countries. The jokes and their victims are known as "April fools". The meaning of modern April Fool’s Day is to make people to have the sense of humour.

Step 3 Words study: (ppt8-14)

Students learn the new words with the help of some pictures and the text book firstly,T and students write the notes secondly, lastly T asks students to try to remember the words secondly, and check them by matching the words in 1a.

Step 4 Listening practice

a. Pre-listening --- Look and guess: (ppt 15)

Look at the pictures in 1c and ask the Ss to imagine what happened with the words and phrases in 1a. By doing this, T can cultivate students’ prediction skill while listening.

T: (Picture d引着学生说）I guess the boy went to the costume party, because he wore a costume, but he was embarrassed, he was the only one wearing a costume. When he got there, he found that his friend had fooled him.

T：(Picture c引着学生说) Next, the boy went to school early, because the school was empty. Maybe he realized that someone had fooled him and had changed the clock earlier.

1. T: Let’s look at the pictures, Listen for the first time and finish 1c. Listen carefully.

5. T: Read the conversations on P146 for 3 minutes, pay attention to your pronunciation and intonation while reading, then there will be a competition between group A and B.
