StepⅠ Pre-reading activities
1. Review: Retell the stories about April Fool’s Day. (1c)
T: Read aloud the listening materials on page 146 and prepare to retell the stories about Joe, Nick and Dave according to pictures or the key words.
(The key words: invited, a costume party, found, had fooled, the only person wearing, embarrassed)
Dave: A friend once invited him to a costume party. When he got there, he found that his friends had fooled him. He was the only person wearing a costume. He was really embarrassed.
( The key words: went off , got dressed, empty, showed up, had changed, to an hour earlier)
Nick: When his alarm went off, he got up , took a shower, got dressed, and went to school. But when he got there, the school was empty. After an hour, the other others showed up, and she realized that his brother had changed the clock to an hour earlier.
( The key words: called had a test, by the time, had stayed up, found out)
Joe: On March 31st last year, his friend called and told him they had a test the next day. By the time he got to math class, he was tired because he had stayed up all night studying . Then he found out that they didn’t have a test at all.
