Warming-up
Greet with Ss about the weather and guide them to T’s fruit shop, then invite some Ss to touch the fruit and guess.
When Ss guess these fruits, they also review the following sentence patterns: Is this……?Yes, it is. / Are these……? Yes, they are. At the same time, the atmosphere of the English class is aroused. Ss will be more interested in this class.
Presentation
Tell Ss what they will learn in this class and have a chant about fruit.
T hold a fruit party and invite Ss to take part in but must pass the following three tasks.
ⅰTask 1 point and say
It’s a magic game. Ss pick up their magic wands and point to the fruit, then say its name. The fruit will be disappear.
Ss are so happy to review fruits by this way. It is really interesting.
After playing the game, T shows many fruits in single form and its plural form. Then ask Ss to read them one by one.
ⅱTask 2 Have a guess
T broadcasts an audio and let Ss guess the fruit using the following sentence pattern “Are these……? Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.”
T shows two kinds of fruits, then covers them and makes them turn around. At last, T points one and let Ss guess. Ss can use the sentence pattern “Are these……? Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.” to ask and answer.
T covers a large part of cherries and let Ss guess using the sentence pattern: Are these ……? Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.
Compared with bananas, cherries are red. By comparison, T wants to tell Ss that colour can distinguish different fruits .
④T shows two riddles A & B and let Ss to read and guess using the following dialogue.
e.g. S1: I guess A. Are these watermelons?
S2: Yes, they are. I guess B. Are these grapes?
S1: Yes, they are.
T asks two groups to make dialogues in front of class. According to the different size between the two fruits, let Ss understand size can be also treated as one of the methods to distinguish the fruits.
T shows some baby pictures. From their facial expressions, we know they are eating something sour. Let Ss guess the fruit. The answer is lemon. Comparing with watermelons, lemons are sour. By the way, T makes Ss know that taste can be another method to distinguish different fruit.
At last, there is an affective education. T praises Ss’ good thinking and lets Ss remember thinking makes a wise man and keep thinking while learning.
