Ability aim: to make sure my students can talk about animals in English, and can use what they have learned in class to communicate with each other.

Emotional aim: through group work to let the students get interested in English and make students have more confidence.

The difficult points are: to express “What’s the matter?” and “I have a ...” in English correctly.

Analysis of student situation.

Students in grade 6 have learned English for 4 years, and it is not difficult for them to learn something new. Also they are very curious about life around them. They are easily get excited by learning new things. So I design lots of games to meet their needs. My students all come from countryside, parents may don’t pay too much attention on English education, and they don’t have a good environment to learn English, so I must make the class?efficiently.

Teaching and learning method.

The main teaching methods are situational teaching method, intuitive teaching method and task-based teaching method.

The main learning methods are listening, speaking, reading, writing, and imitation method. Students can practice in pairs, group and other kind of teamwork.

The teaching aids are: recorder, power point, pictures, box, toys and so on.

Teaching process.

1. Warming up

Before the class, I will divide students into 8 parts, and it is good for different teaching activities, such as PK, pair work and teamwork.

sing a song.

I would like my students sing an English song “If you are happy.” before the class begin, because it can help students love English.

Revision.

Review the words and the dialogue in the last units. By showing a picture to introduce the new lesson.

The purpose is to review the old knowledge and make preparation for the new lesson.

2. Presentation

Learn new words. I will teach them new words by showing pictures and using objects. Then ask them to read aloud, the whole class together. During teaching the new words, I’ll show phonetic symbols to them.

Test the words. Play guessing games with them, ask them to put words into phrases, and find out who can do the best. After the guessing game, students can use “What’s the matter? I have a ...” to ask and answer. Then sing a song to enhance the words. The purpose is to know whether students master the new words or not, and it is also to check if they are ready for the following dialogue.

Learn the sentences. I’ll show the PowerPoint and ask a student “What’s the matter?”. Then lead the students to learn “I have a ...” .

Learn the dialogue. I’ll let the students listen to the radio and answer my question “ What’s the matter with David?” to introduce the dialogue. And I’ll ask students use new sentences to talk with each other by using objects. Then choose some groups showing to the others.

3. Practice

Follow the tape, students read the dialogue in groups. Let them read for many times, help them get the main idea of this lesson.

Act it out. Let students act in groups, and then choose the best one showing to the whole class.

Help students act the dialogue and make a new conversation by themselves. Because it can help them express their ideas in the new pattern.

4. Production

Fill in the?blanks. The purpose is to help them use what they have learned in daily life.

Show time. It can give students a chance to show themselves to others.
