1. 本课为美国加州小学一年级语文教材Treasures3.1 All About Giraffe中的一篇文章The Tall Giraffe。课文内容是对长颈鹿的介绍。原文如下:
The Tall Giraffe
Giraffes are the tallest mammals.
They have very long necks and legs.
A male giraffe is called a bull.
They can be as tall as 16 feet.
A female giraffe is called a cow.
They can be as tall as 19 feet.
A giraffe 's long neck helps it eat leaves in trees. The leaves have water in them. So the giraffe can get a drink, too.
2.本文中较难单词比较多:mammals, male, female, bull, cow, feet,且部分单词理解起来难度较大,所以在第一课已经学习了这些单词,为第二课时对课文的学习扫除了障碍。

Step1.Warming up(热身)
(1) T: Good morning, boys and girls.
(2)Watch a video. ( A Fat Griaffe.)
设计意图:根据高年级学生特点选择这个有趣的小视频作为热身活动,即能为接下来描述正常的长颈鹿引入主题做铺垫,又能调动孩子们的学习热情,并活跃课堂气氛,把学生吸引到课堂中。
Step2.Lead in(导入)
T:What animal is it? What happened ? Why?What should a normal giraffe be like?
T:The giraffe is very tall. Today we will learn The Tall Giraffe.
设计意图:根据视频中搞笑的长颈鹿提出问题“视频中的长颈鹿怎么了?为什么?长颈鹿应该是什么样子呢?” 老师根据学生的描述在黑板上将长颈鹿画在黑板上导入课文的主题。即让学生讨论了视频,又启发学生运用已知词汇和句型对正常的长颈鹿进行描述。
