The difficult points:

1. The pronunciation of new words: evening, night, moon.

2. The usage of the third person singular in the present tense.

This lesson will use CAI, PPT and so on.

Teaching procedures:

1. Pre-task preparation:

Let’s play: Where is the mouse?

Purpose: Warm up and lead in the prepositions: in, on, under, beside, next to, near, in front of, behind and between.

Method: Play the media and invite students to answer.

2. While-task procedures:

A. Let’s guess: What is it? & Whose shadow is it?

Purpose: Lead in the word “shadow” and understand the meaning of the word visually. Through this step, students can consolidate the word and be stimulated the learning interest.

Method: Ask and answer.

B. Do you know? & Listen and say

Purpose: Students can learn the passage with questions and the relation of the sun’s operation and the shadow.

Method: Listen to the recording and answer the questions.

C. Think and say, Look and think & Listen and say

Purpose: Through this step, students can grasp the main sentence patterns and understand the relation of the sun’s operation and the shadow clearly.

Method: a. Ask and answer two questions: “How does the shadow change?” “Why does the shadow change?”

b. Students follow the recording and read the passage.

D. Look and learn new word “evening”

Purpose: Grasp the word “evening”

Method: a. Show the picture. Students read and spell the word.

b. Ask the question “What do people do in the evening?”

E. Look and learn new word “rise”

Purpose: Grasp the word “rise, go down and set”

Method: a. Show the picture. Students read and spell the word.

b. Consolidate the words in the text.
