1. Show a clock to the students, and encourage the students to read the number.
T: (move the clock hands to show one o'clock) It's one o'clock. (move the short hand to two o'clock) It's two o'clock.(move the clock hands to show half past seven) It's half past seven...
Write "o'clock" "half past" on the blackboard. Then the teacher says a time and the students set the time on the clock.
T: Ten o'clock.
S1: (move the clock hands to show ten o'clock)
T: What time is it?
Ss: It's ten o'clock.
Introduce "a quarter" by using the clock.
T: (move the long hand of the clock from 12 to 3) It's a quarter. (set the time at 7:15) It's a quarter past seven. (set the time at 7:45) It's a quarter to eight.
T: (show the pictures of clocks showing different times) What time is it?
Ss: It's two o'clock/half past seven/a quarter to six/a quarter past one.
2. Show different clocks, and introduce the phrases of Look and learn.
T: (show the picture of a clock showing seven o'clock) What time is it?
Ss: It's seven o'clock.
T: (show the flashcard for have breakfast) I have breakfast at seven o'clock. How about you? Do you have breakfast at seven o'clock too?
S1: Yes, I have breakfast at seven o'clock too.
Introduce the phrases one by one and let the students follow.
3. Show the pictures on the blackboard, and invite individuals to act the boy in the picture.
T: What time is it?
S1: It's six thirty. I get up at six thirty. How about you?
T: I get up at seven o'clock.
Then encourage the students to work in pairs using "I...at..."
S1: What time is it?
S2: It's six o'clock. I get up at six o'clock. How about you?
S1: I get up at half past six.
4. Let the students watch the pictures of Ask and answer,
T: What time is it?
