2. to deepen students’ understanding of the passage

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1. Warming up ( 1 minute )

Show Ss pictures about France to lead them speak out the places in the pictures.

Step 2. Memory Test ( 2 minutes)

Have a memory test to help Ss review words and phrases through playing a game on the whiteboard.

Step 3. Reading Comprehension:(10 minutes)

Ask Ss listen to the recording and review the main idea of each paragraph.

1st paragraph — the location of France

2nd paragraph — the capital of France

3rd paragraph — the center of France

4th paragraph — the south of France

5th paragraph — welcome to France

Review and analyze the first two paragraphs.

Ask Ss to close their books and fill in the blanks.

Ask Ss to skim and scan the first two paragraphs and answer the following questions.

Ask Ss to finish the blank -filling task about the 3rd paragraph

Ask Ss to finish the blank -filling task about the 4th paragraph and answer the following questions.

Ask Ss to finish the blank -filling task about the 5th paragraph and summarize the structure of the passage.

Step 4 Drawing a spider gram. (3-5 minutes )

Guide Ss to draw a spider gram of the passage and help them understand the spider gram.

Step 5 Retelling the passage. (10 minutes)

Ask Ss to retell the first part of the article with the help of the table.

Ask Ss to retell the second part of the article with the help of the table.
