Pre-task preparations
1. 让学生跟着录音有节奏地朗读Listen and enjoy的儿歌,活跃课堂气氛。

2. 出示一些发明家的照片,与其所发明的东西配对,并跟学生讨论。
T: Who are they?
S1: They’re the Wright brothers.
T: What did they invent?

While-task procedures
1. 教师收集并展示一些与鲁班有关的图片,如鲁班尺、云梯、石磨、墨斗、锯子、刨子、铲子、凿子、钥匙等,导入故事人物鲁班及生词tool。
T: These are tools. Tools help us do many things. Can you tell what these tools are for?
S1: (point to the saw) This is a saw. It’s for cutting wood.
T: That’s right. Do you know who invented it?
S2: Lu Ban.
T: Lu Ban was a great craftsman. He invented many useful tools.
2. 播放Read a story的录音或动画,让学生了解故事。通过以下问题帮助学生梳理故事内容。
1) Who was Lu Ban? (He was a craftsman.)
2) Where did he work? (He worked on a mountain.)
3) What happened to him? (A leaf cut his finger.)
4) How could such a small leaf hurt him? (There were many teeth on the leaf, and the teeth were sharp.)
5) What did Lu Ban make? (He made a saw.)
3. 提供故事中的关键词,如craftsman, work, cut his finger, thought, looked carefully, sharp teeth, made, saw, tool等,让学生复述故事。然后指导学生完成Read a story的后续练习,让学生练习用一句话概括每段的大意,学习总结故事。
4. 安排学生两人一组,演出课本剧。
