V. Teaching procedures

Step 1. Warming Up

Let students sing an English song together, and review the knowledge of some sports.

Through this process, students’ interests will be aroused and we can move smoothly to the next part.

Step 2. Presentation

Use the toy chicken to ask students to learn the new words “high jump” and “long jump”. Next, show some pictures on the screen, and ask students to learn the new words “long race” and “short race”. Let students read the new words for several times. And then, let students play a game named Act and Guess. Divide the students into some groups, three students in a group. The first student shows some cards of the new words, the second one performs these words and the last one guesses. And give some gifts to the winners.

In this way, students can have a basic understanding of the new words.

Step 3. Practice

Let students translate the passage, and read it for two times. After that, show some sentence structures on the blackboard, and let students use them to make sentences. Then ask them to answer some questions about this passage.

The purpose of this step is to let students consolidate the new words and the sentence structure.

Step 4. Production

Let students make their own conversation with their partners, and invite some pairs to perform it on the stage. Then divide students into six groups, and ask them to do a survey about their favorite activity in PE lessons. After that, every group comes to the front to do a report. Give the students some gift.

Though this section, students can foster their interests of learning English.

Step 5. Summary

Let students summary the main contents of this class, and ask students to read them for several times together.

Step 6. Homework

Let students remember the new words. And ask them to practice their own conversation with their partners, next class perform it on the stage. At last, let students clap for the winner.
