了解动物是人类的好朋友,引出单元话题。认读和理解单词helpful。

Step 2 开展读前活动,为阅读扫清障碍。

学生结合图片完成What do you know about...?部分的练习。通过了解不同种类的狗的贡献,激发阅读兴趣。认识单词rescue。

教师提问What does a guide dog/police dog/rescue dog do?。学生通过谈论导盲犬(guide dog),认读和理解单词blind,bark和lead。

Step 3 完成Before you read 部分的读前活动。

学生快速浏览主阅读 篇章的标题和图片,预测单元话题和大致内容并回答问题。认

读和理解单词mean。

Step 4 精读故事,聚焦细节。

学生默读主阅读篇章的前三段,回答下列问题。

Did the receptionist want to allow Charlie to stay in the hotel? Why or why not?

What was Charlie?

What did the receptionist?

学生认读和理解单词receptionist,allow,pet,anywhere,apologize以及短语arrive at,by oneself 和 lead(sb) to。

学生阅读主阅读篇章的其余两段,完成以下表格。

What happened then?

John was very tire.→

He soon fell asleep.

Charlie started barking.→

John woke up and smelt smoke.

Smoke started to come in from under the door.→

With Charlie’s help, John put some wet towers along the bottom of the door. Then he got down on the floor next to Charlie and waited

The fireman didn’t want to take Charlie.→

John would not go without his “eyes”.

Finally, the fireman got Charlie out of the building too.→

They were both safe.

学生认读和理解单词wake,towel,bottom,finally 以及短语fall asleep,wake up,get down 和 fire engine。
