Step 1 Greetings and lead-in

Teacher presents some pictures to students to review the new words “study, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room” and so on. At last, teacher leads into the topic “my home”.

Step 2 Show the teaching aims

Step 3 Guessing games

Students play the guessing games to review the “there be”sentence patterns.

Step 4 Pre-reading

1a Look at the picture and discuss the following questions.

1, How many rooms are there in the picture?

2, Do you like the home in the picture? Why?

Step 5 While-reading

1b Read the passage and answer the following questions:

1, What’s in the center of the yard?

2, What’s at the back of the yard?

3, What’s on the left of the yard?

4, What’s on the right of the yard?

5, What are the people doing?

Step 6 Post-reading

①Work in groups

Students find and underline the phrases, such as in the center

of, at the back of,on the left of and so on. Then teacher asks

questions like this:Who is in the center of the classroom?

Who is on the left of the classroom?etc

②Students read the passage again and fill in the blanks, then

check the answers together.
